Weddings and Civil Ceremonies

We are a family run boutique hotel with many years of experience in delivering the finest of Weddings. We are licensed for civil ceremonies up to 130 guests and also have two ideal wedding reception venues to choose from. Our versatile banqueting suites have bars and capacity seating for 50 to 200 guests.

Our Mulberry Suite has two exquisite chandeliers and exposed beams whereas our Marquee has floor to ceiling white drapes with a private decking terrace. We also have the ideal drinks reception venue located overlooking our grounds and lake; perfect for group shots with your friends and family! We also have 22 bedrooms onsite so your guests can truly relax and enjoy the occasion at their convenience, then spend the following morning with close friends and family before heading off.

Whilst we have subtly converted the venue into a beautiful hotel and venue with accommodation, we have kept in mind the fantastic history of the building, which offers a combination of traditional Georgian architecture with modern 21st-century additions offering the flexibility and standard you require.

Alongside the Mulberry Lake, which was once a moat around the House, there has been careful tree planting which enhances the grounds making it an ideal backdrop for your Wedding.  Some of the original trees are over 150 years old!

At Mulberry House, we believe that your wedding day should be faultless so we provide only the finest wedding coordinators to help facilitate your day and ensure everything flows smoothly. You can tailor your reception exactly how you'd like it. 

Our Catering Team are renowned for their quality cuisine and this together with a choice of bedrooms to suit every size of wedding party will make your day very special.  All of our bedrooms have recently undergone refurbishment providing en-suite facilities and if your event includes an evening reception Tresco, our Honeymoon Suite, is available for the Bride and Groom to use complimentary on your Wedding night. Along with this, a Bridal changing suite is available for the party on the morning of the wedding.

We can tailor the perfect package to your specific requirements and would love to give you the opportunity to come up and see this beautiful venue in person.  You can then meet with our coordinators and discuss your Wedding ideas in more detail.

Spread yourselves across the Georgian House, the Mulberry Suite and Marquee, 22 bedrooms and 22 acres of grounds. Exclusive use starts at 11.00am on the day of your event until 11.00am the following day.

Exclusive use prices are bespoke to each event, please speak to our friendly events team.

Exchange your vows amongst friends and family in our listed Georgian house. We have designed the Mulberry Suite to offer flexibility depending on the size of your wedding party. It consists of three rooms which can be adjusted for an intimate gathering or opened up to form a large ceremony suite accommodating up to 130 guests.You may prefer to use our Alderney Suite located in the main house for smaller intimate wedding parties. We would be happy to meet with you to create your special day.

You will need to contact Epping Forest District Council directly to arrange for two registrars to conduct the ceremony. Mulberry House cannot arrange this for you.

Once photographs and other civil ceremony formalities are completed, guests are invited to enjoy drinks and canapès on the terrace or in the Garden Room, depending on the weather.

BY ROAD - Mulberry House is situated on the A414 at High Ongar, Essex. If you are travelling from the M11, exit at junction 7 and follow the A414 towards Chelmsford. Remaining on the A414 pass over three mini roundabouts. The House is on the right, 0.6 miles past the "Four Wantz" roundabout (BP Service Station). If you are travelling from the A12, exit at junction 15 and follow the A414 towards Harlow, you pass over 2 roundabouts and then Mulberry House is situated on your left.

BY RAIL - The nearest mainline station is Harlow Town (National Express East Anglia) then by taxi. The nearest tube station is Epping on the Central Line then by taxi. Mulberry House is approximately a 15 minute drive from Epping Station.
