Firstsite has recently become an approved premise for civil marriages, civil partnerships and other civil ceremonies allowing people to marry and hold naming ceremonies within the iconic golden building in central Colchester. Our town-centre location – just off the High Street – makes us the ideal party venue for couples marrying at a civil ceremony in the nearby Register Office or Town Hall as well.
 

Our superb building has a contemporary edge that sets us apart from other venues with traditional styling. Firstsite's mellow golden exterior is the perfect backdrop for memorable wedding pictures, and our light-filled function rooms open out onto a sheltered D-shaped garden that's yours to enjoy in the summer months. By night, the gorgeously romantic illuminated lamppost, pictured, is a must for your wedding album. firstsite can host a small, intimate wedding party, or a celebration for up to 160 guests. Tailor-made packages are available every day, including Sundays, for daytime or evening receptions. The function suite is exclusively yours for the occasion, and you can also enjoy photo opportunities on the beautiful Berryfield Roman Mosaic.
 

From a buffet to a banquet, your wedding menu will be expertly handled. Whether you want a formal dinner or an exciting contemporary buffet, you will be served by our in-house team of catering professionals in firstsite's function suite. We'll assign you a dedicated Events co-ordinator to support you at every step of your wedding plans, and ensure your Big Day runs seamlessly.

There is good access to Colchester from all parts of the country via the A12, A120, M25 and A14. National rail links are available from three stations in colchester and Stansted Airport is nearby. firstsite offers parking for disabled visitors only; there is no on-site parking. Disabled parking bays are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Outside the building is a drop-off point for cars and coaches, and special access for disabled visitors.
