Welcome to Winchester House
A jewel in London’s crown
Winchester House is a gloriously spacious house steeped in history, and a venue so unique that it has been referred to as “a hidden gem, a jewel in London’s crown”
It is a spacious and stylish private members’ club sitting in grounds of around half an acre on the banks of the Thames, just upstream from Putney Bridge. The house itself is steeped in history, and has been referred to as “a hidden gem, a jewel in London’s crown”. However, you can really only appreciate the charm and character of the house, and its unrivalled facilities, by coming to see it for yourself.
Winchester House has proved to be an ideal location for both private and corporate events, combining privacy and accessibility, and as you will see from some of the many testimonials we have received, AM & PM have catered a wide variety of events there – wedding receptions, civil partnership ceremonies, Bar Mitzvahs, wakes, fashion shows, location filming, conferences and new product launches to name but some.
General information about the venue
AM & PM Catering have been the exclusive, appointed caterers to Winchester House since 1983.
The River Room can accommodate 124 dining guests. In summer, a marquee on the River Lawn increases the entertaining capacity considerably. For smaller ceremonies or receptions the Library, which opens onto the lawn, is ideal.
With our mutual background of experience, confidence and trust – established over many years of successful collaboration – you can be assured that AM & PM and the club will work seamlessly together to make your event a memorable experience.
Location
Located close to the embankment in Putney, moments from Putney Pier, Putney Bridge and a short walk from Putney Bridge underground staion and Putney mainline rail station.

Parking near this location
Unless you’re talking about Boat Race Day (which is, not surprisingly, a parking nightmare), it’s generally not bad at all. There are usually plenty of places along the embankment which (after 6.30pm on Monday to Saturday and all day on Sunday) are free of charge. The residents’ bays are also free after 6.30pm. Further up river, parking becomes unrestricted. Be warned: unless your mode of transport is a boat, if you park on the embankment, make sure that there is not an imminent spring high tide.
